Early Ear Training Steps #1a and #1b
In these two videos you learn to distinguish between the open A and E strings by ear.
Clap at head height when you hear the open E string and on the floor when you hear the open A string.



Early Ear Training Steps #2a and 2b
Let’s review some pieces and show the pitch levels with your hand as you sing along.
You can sing in many diff erent ways:
- with ta, ta, ta or la, la, la ...
- with finger numbers
- with note names A / B / C or with Do / Re / Mi.
Your teacher will tell you what is best for you. Here are two examples:

Higher, same or lower note?
Learn to distinguish between two notes.
Arjada and her daughter demonstrate how to decide if the second note is higher, lower or the same as the first note.


Early Ear Training Step #4
Practice Suggestions for Step #4
In this video, Arjada and her daughter show what to do for each repetition:
Repetition #1: Listen carefully to the notes.
Repetition #2: Sing along to the notes played by the violin.
Repetition #3: Sing along to the notes played by the violin and also indicate the pitches with your hand.

 

In Step #4a, the note sequences progress stepwise, while in Step #4b there are also jumps that skip one or more notes.



Early Ear Training Step #5
The notes on the A and E strings
Now the exercises become longer and you will need quite a lot of concentration.
Each of the three exercises includes at least 16 notes and will be played three times in a row.
This ear training will prepare you well to begin the Spotlight Exercises for Perpetual Motion.
