Material Overview for Teachers

The Pre-Twinkle phase prepares the child for the first repertoire piece, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, with a focus on basic violin setup, first bow strokes on open strings, and early left-hand finger placement.

🎧 Listening

Regular listening helps students become familiar with the pieces they are learning now and with pieces they will study later. Listening supports a clear sense of rhythm, pitch, tone quality, character, and how the violin and piano sound together.

🎹 Practice Accompaniments

This section offers two alternative ways to work with piano accompaniments in the Pre-Twinkle phase.
Teachers who use Step by Step, Vol. 1A will find all corresponding audio tracks here (audio only; score published by Alfred Music).
Alternatively, teachers may choose Let’s Practice Together!, a newer and expanded edition that includes the complete eBook and audio with additional songs and exercises.
Only one of these approaches is needed; teachers may choose the version that best fits their teaching.
In the Pre-Twinkle phase, all songs are recorded with both violin and piano parts, so children can clearly hear and play along with the violin sound for guidance and support.

🎼 Ensemble Pieces

This section offers music for mixed-level string ensemble. Very easy violin parts can already be played by Pre-Twinkle students, while more advanced parts allow older students to play together with them.

🎥 Videos

The videos provide musical inspiration and visual models for teachers, parents, and students. They support listening, movement, imitation, and joyful musical engagement in the early learning phase.

👨‍👩‍👧 Notes for Parents

This section introduces basic ideas of the mother-tongue approach. It helps parents understand their role in supporting listening, repetition, and a positive learning environment from the very beginning.
