No. 5.1:   Evening Song for Mixed-Level Violin Ensemble and Piano by Kerstin Wartberg & David Andruss

Arranged for 4 Violins and Piano Violin Parts: Kerstin Wartberg
Piano Part: David Andruss

All parts and audio files of the Evening Song can be found HERE.

The following songs can be played one after another either as solo pieces or as duets, trios or quartets in any combination to the piano accompaniment.

No. 1: Song of the Angels
No. 2: Evening Sunset at the Lake
No. 3: Small Waves
No. 4: Last Rays of Sunshine

The bass lines and harmonies of this piece are identical in sections A and B. The accompaniment to section A can be used for section B as well as for further sections based on the other violin parts in the My First Violin Technique Book.

The various violin parts can be played in any order and can be layered, one after the other, until all are played simultaneously, making this arrangement one of extreme flexibility.

On the MP3 files, a 4-hand piano accompaniment can be heard. We have arranged the piece here for piano with only two hands in order to accommodate more typical teaching and performing situations.

We encourage teachers and accompanists alike to experiment with this arrangement and suit it to their individual needs.

One example of this type of flexible, spontaneous arrangement can be found on YouTube under the title Evening Song.

Listen to our brand new song, variations on the German Folk Song. It is a famous and very old German children’s song from the early 19th century. Its text was written by Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1835, the melody was already composed by Carl Friedrich Zelter in 1810. The song is about a singing contest between a cuckoo and a donkey.

We arranged it especially for the group of mixed-level children and teacher trainees from Pre-Twinkle up to book 6 for our Mallorca workshop. So it was sort of a world premiere.

We had a lot of fun to learn this song and its variations.

Music for mixed-level violin ensemble and piano
Arrangement by Gino Romero Ramirez, Mike Hoover & David Rodríguez Toledo

You see a short excerpt from a lesson at the International Music Teachers Conference 2018 in Germany.
The basic idea was: How to teach a piece for a mixed-level ensemble within a few minutes and how to get students engaged and motivated during this process.

Approximately 130 teachers from 23 countries attended the 10th annual IMTEX conference in early November 2018.
This was a diverse group of teachers with a vast body of knowledge, experience, and ideas.

In this video three teachers of the German Suzuki Association (Gino Romero Ramirez from Colombia, Mike Hoover from Texas/USA & David Rodríguez Toledo from Spain) demonstrated this idea with their arrangement of a SPANISH DANCE which they taught often to their students and at workshops.
Enjoy and have fun!
