Bringing Future Preparation, Current Repertoire and Review into Harmony

Building Ability Through Practice Chains

FREE Opening Session of the IMTEX Summer Academy 2026

Are you looking for fresh ideas that make review more effective, home practice more motivating and future learning easier for your students?

Join us for this FREE Opening Session of the IMTEX Summer Academy 2026 and discover a wide variety of Practice Chains that can be used immediately in individual lessons, group classes and home practice.

Practice Chains are short, structured learning sequences in which pieces, excerpts, technical tasks, movement activities, listening exercises and preparation exercises are connected and practiced one after another. Through these chains, review becomes active, varied and deeply integrated into the learning process.

Drawing on long-term teaching experience and inspired by Dr. Suzuki’s philosophy of continuous review, this session demonstrates practical teaching ideas that can be applied immediately in everyday teaching.

Different forms of Practice Chains will be presented, including:

  • Play Along Practice Chains for continuous and secure review
  • Move and Play Along Practice Chains combining movement, active listening and violin playing
  • SHORT Practice Chains using only piece beginnings for rapid and concentrated review
  • Technical and tonal preparation chains
  • Violin Gymnastics and movement preparation for future techniques
  • Home Concert and concerto chains for concentration and performance stamina

The session also explores how future learning can be prepared long before new repertoire is formally introduced. Through movement, listening, rhythmic preparation and technical pre-exercises, students gradually become familiar with future musical and technical challenges in a natural and joyful way.

Participants are warmly invited to have their violins ready and actively join selected demonstrations and Practice Chains throughout the session. All demonstrations can also be followed simply by watching and listening.

Through practical demonstrations by Kerstin Wartberg, Margherita Biederbick and Arjada Hasanaj, the session presents a rich variety of ideas for individual lessons, group lessons and home practice.

As the Opening Session of the IMTEX Summer Academy 2026, this event offers practical inspiration, fresh teaching ideas and immediately applicable strategies that can enrich everyday teaching and help students learn with greater confidence, continuity and joy.
