Polyiam Palitponganpim Kerstin Wartberg

Presenters: Kerstin Wartberg & Polyiam Palitponganpim
Join Kerstin Wartberg and her Thai colleague Polyiam Palitponganpim for an intensive exploration of note reading, an important skill that can be integrated naturally and efficiently into Suzuki violin lessons.
Polyiam has extensive experience testing and implementing Kerstin Wartberg’s innovative note-reading materials with her own students. Together, the presenters will demonstrate practical strategies for introducing note reading in a way that supports both technical development and musical understanding.
A key element of this approach is that all note-reading activities are presented within a musical context. Rhythm and pitch exercises are supported by creative piano accompaniments by Vorarat Wattanasombat, making the learning process engaging, musical, and enjoyable for young students.
Participants will discover how carefully sequenced exercises and ensemble activities guide students from the first stages of note recognition to confident sight-reading. By combining pitch reading, rhythm training, bowing notation, and musical symbols, students develop a comprehensive understanding of written music while maintaining a strong connection to sound and musical expression.
Throughout the course, participants will observe numerous video demonstrations featuring students of Kamolmas Charoensook, Polyiam Palitponganpim, and Vorarat Wattanasombat. These classroom examples provide vivid illustrations of the teaching concepts and show how note-reading skills can be developed successfully in a motivating and child-friendly environment.
This course demonstrates how note reading can become a natural part of violin instruction without requiring extensive lesson time. By investing just a few focused minutes in each lesson, teachers can help students build strong reading skills while continuing to prioritize musical development, beautiful tone, and expressive playing.
