Four-Part Intensive Course for Cello Teachers
Tapalin Charoensook
For the first time, the IMTEX Summer Academy presents a dedicated technique course for cello teachers working with students in the early Suzuki levels.
How can we establish strong technical foundations that support long-term musical development? How can essential skills be introduced in a structured, efficient, and motivating way? This four-part course offers practical answers to these questions through a carefully organized technical framework designed specifically for Suzuki Books 1 and 2.
The course is led by Tapalin Charoensook, who studied in both Thailand and Germany and has developed a comprehensive cello technique curriculum covering multiple stages of learning. During the Summer Academy, she will present the foundational level of this program, focusing on the technical skills and developmental sequence needed for success in the early years of cello study.
Each session may be booked individually, allowing participants to focus on the areas most relevant to their teaching.
All participants will receive the complete teaching materials as downloadable e-books and audio files, enabling immediate implementation in individual and group lessons.
This course represents the first part of a larger technical curriculum. Additional courses covering higher Suzuki levels are planned for future Summer Academies.
We warmly invite cello teachers to join this practical and innovative addition to the IMTEX Summer Academy 2026 and explore a systematic approach to building strong technical foundations in cello playing.
Tapalin Charoensook was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and began studying cello at the age of ten. She received her Diploma for Musician and Master of Music from the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” Weimar, Germany, where she studied with Prof. Maria-Luise Leihenseder-Ewald and Prof. Brunhard Böhme.
She has won numerous national and international awards, including first prizes at the Settrade Thai Youth Musician Competition, the King’s Award at the Conrad Young Musician Award of Thailand, and the International Youth Chamber Music Competition in Interlaken, Switzerland.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed with orchestras and musicians throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States, including appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York. Alongside her performing career, Tapalin is deeply committed to cello pedagogy and has pursued extensive training in the Suzuki Cello Method and Suzuki Early Childhood Education.
She has taught at Kreismusikschule Mühlhausen in Germany, served on the faculty of the College of Music at Mahidol University, and continues to work actively with young musicians through teaching, coaching, and educational projects in Thailand.
